Vermont Custom Full & Partial Dentures

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth, supported by the surrounding soft tissue and hard tissues of the oral cavity.  There are two types of dentures.  Full dentures are used when all teeth are missing.  Partial dentures are indicated when there are some natural teeth remaining.  In some cases, this is only a couple teeth.

Our patients then play a vital role in customizing the appearance and fit of the denture to achieve a final look and feel that they are comfortable with. We are capable of providing patients with “conventional” or “immediate” dentures.  A conventional denture is fabricated after all teeth are missing and gum tissue has healed following extraction of teeth.  An immediate denture is made in advance of any necessary extractions, such that the patient does not have to go without teeth during the healing period.  These immediate transitional dentures usually need adjustments to fit properly during the healing process.

In some cases, generally for the lower jaw, may not have sufficient bone and gum tissue needed to comfortably retain a full denture.  In such cases, we offer the option of implant retained overdentures for our patients.  Typically two dental implants are placed in the lower jaw by a local oral surgeon and a conventional denture is fabricated with attachments that connect to the dental implants.   Although implant retained overdentures are still removable, they allow patients to wear dentures having improved stability and retention.
